MFD is investigating a deadly fire at South Pointe Retirement Home

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The Monroe Fire Department announced they are investigating a deadly fire that occurred on 123 South Pointe Avenue.

MFD says they were notified of the death around 12 p.m. and upon arrival found one male victim.

MFD says the victim, a 74-year-old male, was found dead inside the building by an employee going to deliver food.

Representatives of MFD say they believe the fire started sometime on Feb. 4 and smothered itself out before anyone could notice.

According to MFD, the cause of the fire is still under investigation, and more details will be released when available.
