This page has links to information you can use during any severe weather event in our area. Bookmark this page and come back anytime severe weather strikes. If you have breaking news call the newsroom at 318-388-8888. For non-urgent news, you can call or email

The first thing you should do is download the KNOE Weather app and the KNOE News app for your Android or iOS device. Why? Because you can get targeted severe weather alerts tailored to your location or any location of your choosing. You can also get notified of important closures. See the following sections for details.

With the KNOE 8 Weather App, you’ll have local weather conditions at your fingertips, daily video forecasts from our team of meteorologists, and access to an interactive radar! But more importantly, the KNOE Weather app can give you targeted weather alerts based on precise locations. Instead of getting notified when your city or parish, in general, is included in a weather alert, you can know when your home is included in a severe weather alert. With the “Follow Me” feature, you can also be alerted when you are within the bounds of an alert, based on your phone’s GPS data, anywhere in the U.S.

You can set up these notifications for multiple locations, as well. Set up notifications for your senior parent’s home, your son or daughter’s new apartment, and any other location that’s important to you. You can get these alerts no matter where you are, even if you are out of state. Only the “Follow Me” feature requires GPS. Other locations you specify do not.

The KNOE 8 News app gives you access to daily breaking news alerts as well as alerts on the most interesting stories of the day. When it comes to severe weather, the KNOE News app can help keep you informed about the biggest weather developments and those all-important school closures. You can even sign up to get closure notifications for your specific school. Just open the app, click on the menu (three dots) at the top-right, and select ‘Settings,’ then ‘Closings.’ Simply select your school or organization from the list and you will get a notification when we report a closure, even for the smallest schools!
