Ruston teen arrested for second-degree murder
RUSTON, La. (KNOE) - A 14-year-old is in custody for second-degree murder, according to the Ruston Police Department.
In a press release, RPD said that on May 19 at around 1:11 a.m. officers responded to a call about a person lying in the road near South Trenton Street and West Hilly Avenue. When officers arrived they found a male suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim, who was later identified as a fourteen-year-old black male, was taken to Northern Louisiana Medical Center to be treated for his wound. He was later flown to Ochsner LSU Health-Shreveport where he died from his injuries.
In a press release, RPD said after conducting a “lengthy investigation” an arrest warrant for second-degree murder was issued for a teenage suspect.
On June 10, officers arrested a 14-year-old black male. He was taken and booked into the Green Oaks Detention Center.
Because this case involves minors, identities have not been released at this time.
