NWS: Three EF-1 tornadoes touched down in Louisiana, Texas

The National Weather Service has confirmed three EF-1 tornadoes touched down Wednesday, May 8, in Louisiana and Texas.

The first tornado touched down north of Marshall, Texas and the second was near Readhimer, in the Kisatchie National Forest in northern Natchitoches Parish.

The third tornado touched down south of Jonesboro, in southwest Jackson Parish.

Tens of thousands of customers were left without power Wednesday as storms moved across the area. Students at several schools were sheltered in place, as well.

A family of seven escaped serious injuries when a tree fell on their house in southwest Shreveport. It happened as storms passed over the Southern Hills area.

. Now they are trying to salvage the contents of their home.
