Longtime KNOE anchor Randy Prewitt passes away

A longtime member of the KNOE family has passed away.
According to family members, Randy Prewitt passed away Friday morning after a long illness.
Randy always had a smile on his face as he delivered the news to the ArkLaMiss for over 35 years on KNOE.
He also authored several cookbooks with recipes he gathered from the many guests he hosted on the show.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Kilpatricks Funeral Home.
Randall Bryant “Randy” Prewitt, long-time former co-host of KNOE’s Good Morning Ark-La-Miss passed from this life November 15, 2019. Randy worked as a television news anchor at KNOE for over 35 years and also spent several years as a news anchor in Las Vegas, Nevada. Randy began his career in high school, as a radio broadcaster in Morehead, Kentucky where he worked with Tom T. Hall. At the age of 18, Randy moved to New Orleans and worked as a radio DJ for WWL and later moved to Knoxville to attend the University of Tennessee, and also worked as a radio DJ in Knoxville for several years. Randy then landed a position as a radio DJ at WPLO in Atlanta where he interviewed Patsy Cline, Roy Orbison, Ray Stephens, Dolly Pardon and many more great artists. Randy was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1963 and served three years as a radio broadcaster, with part of his service time in Korea.
Randy was born in Henderson, Kentucky on December 29, 1940 and was reared in Alcoa, Tennessee. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Debbie Fox Prewitt, son, Scott Prewitt and wife Erin, son, David Tate, son, Ben Tate, sister, Debbie Prewitt Thurman and husband Alvin, granddaughter, Katlyn Prewitt, grandson, Cade Prewitt, granddaughter, Naelyn Prewitt, grandson, Eli Norman, granddaughter, Kathryn Tate and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Silas and Rebecca Prewitt and brother, Dennes Prewitt.
Randy loved to cook and eat good Louisiana food, was a die hard LSU football fan and avid Ham radio operator since the age of 15. He was known and loved by so many and will be greatly missed. Funeral services, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Monroe, are incomplete at this time.
