After four seasons as head coach at Ruston Brad Laird is stepping down to become the defensive coordinator at Northwestern State.

The Bearcats just completed a 8-3 season under Laird. It was just the third time since 1990 that the Bearcats won 8 regular season games. Ruston lost in the first round to East Ascension.

This will be Laird's third coaching stint at Northwestern State. He coached there from 2003-2005 and later from 2008-2011. He held an administrative role at the school in 2012.

Laird tells KNOE Sports Director Aaron Dietrich "this is an opportunity to get back in the college ranks to a place that has meant a lot to him as a coach and player.

After leading Ruston to a state title in 1990, Laird went in to play college ball at Northwestern State.
