MONROE, La. (KNOE) - A federal jury found a Texas veteran guilty of drug trafficking and firearm charges stemming from an August 2023 arrest in Monroe.

Charles Logwood, 34, was found guilty of possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine and marijuana and possession of a firearm during a drug trafficking offense.

Acting United States Attorney Alexander Van Hook said the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration started investigating Logwood in 2023 as a suspected drug supplier to people in Monroe.

DEA agents said they learned in August 2023 that Logwood was traveling to Monroe to sell methamphetamine. Multiple law enforcement agencies set up surveillance and found Logwood driving.

Law enforcement officers said a strong smell of marijuana was coming from Logwood’s car when they pulled him over.

According to law enforcement, Logwood admitted to having a gun in the car during the traffic stop.

Van Hook said officers found a pistol, a large amount of cash, 1.5 kilograms of marijuana, a pill crusher with crushed Percocet pills, and 4.5 kilograms of methamphetamine in Logwood’s vehicle.

Logwood faces 10 years to life in prison for the methamphetamine trafficking charge, up to 5 years on the marijuana trafficking charge, at least 5 years on the firearm charge, and a fine of up to $10 million.
