From classic films to new releases : A new drive-in theater comes to Monroe

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - A new drive-in theater is coming to Monroe soon, Discover Monroe West Monroe officials have the latest on the community impact.

Drive-in movie theaters are no longer old news, the owners of the Bayou Cove Drive in says the theater will have something for everyone.

The owners say the adult and kid friendly theater will have two 45 ft. screens with one side showing PG-13 movies and up for adults and PG movies on the other.

They will show the latest films and hold up to 250 cars per night. It will be located on Highway 80 just east of Stubbs Ritchie Road.

According to the owners, it will have a concession stand and carhops. They says tickets will be available to purchase online.

Officials with Discover Monroe-West Monroe say the drive-in theater will bring many people to the area.

“It’s great entertainment, something new on the weekend, a new activity, which we have plenty of, but there it’s a new variety of something new, a new option for other people to do , to get out and enjoy the community. The closest one is in Houston and then in North Arkansas so it’s a good ways to one. This is something that will be an experience for people that they will want to come and do so it will drive some tourists to our area,” says the President and CEO of Discover Monroe-West Monroe.

The owners of the drive in say construction is expected to be completed by May.
