Lincoln Parish K9 killed while hunting down wanted man

A man who police say shot a woman in the head is now accused of killing a Lincoln Parish Sheriff's K-9.
Deputies say Vincent Roberson was found around 2:00 a.m. Saturday after he stopped at a nearby nursing home to ask for water.
Roberson is charged with attempted second-degree murder after his girlfriend was found shot in the head in an apartment on Texas Avenue in Monroe Friday. Police have not released the condition of the woman.
Deputies say hours before he was arrested he killed a K-9 while law enforcement was looking for him.
Boco was with the Lincoln Parish sheriff's office for three years and deputies say he was like family.
The Lincoln Parish Sheriff's Office says it was around 7:30 p.m. Friday when they got a call of a suspicious person at a home on Chandler Road. Deputies say they saw Roberson when they got there, but he ran away into a wooded area.
That's when Boco followed him. Moments later, they heard between five to seven gunshots, and they couldn't find Boco. Boco's body was found about 3:45 a.m.
"Boco was a heck of a dog,” said Major Stephen Williams with the Lincoln Parish Sheriff's Office. “I think everybody here loved him. One of the friendliest dogs you'd ever seen, but he knows how to get down to business whenever the time came."
Roberson is being held in Lincoln Parish where he is charged with animal cruelty.
