MONROE, LA (KNOE 8 News) - At 7:00 AM Louisiana State Police Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 about 3 miles west of the Ouachita/Lincoln Parish line that killed a Monroe woman.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2007 Cadillac Escalade, driven by 35-year-old Candace Henderson of Monroe was traveling west on I-20 in the outside lane.
Henderson moved over into the inside lane due to a vehicle merging into traffic from the rest area. After entering the inside lane, Henderson stated her vehicle struck an object in the roadway and she lost control.
After losing control the Escalade struck a guardrail and reentered the travel lanes. It was then struck by a 2004 International 18-wheeler driven by 47-year-old Harold Hollaway of Winnsboro.
After impact, the 18-wheeler traveled into the median and the Escalade rolled onto its roof and came to rest. At some point during the crash, a passenger in the Escalade, 28-year-old Kimberly Henderson of Monroe, was ejected and later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Impairment at this time is unknown. A toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
