Update: Monroe woman killed in Ouachita Parish crash

MONROE, LA (KNOE 8 News & LSP) - A Monroe woman is dead following a two car crash on Highway 594 Thursday evening.

Thursday evening just before 8:00 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 594 at the intersection of Rowland Road, in Ouachita Parish that claimed the life of a Monroe woman.

The preliminary investigation revealed a GMC pickup, driven by 35-year-old Brandon Bullard of Monroe, was traveling east on Rowland Road. Bullard failed to yield at a stop sign and struck a Chevrolet Equinox, driven by 62-year-old Maudie Wilhite of Monroe that was traveling north on LA 594.

Wilhite was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Friday, Wilhite died from her injuries.

Impairment at this time is unknown. A toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. Bullard was cited for failure to yield at a stop sign.

It happened at the intersection of Highway 594 and Rowland Road. Louisiana State Police say that Maudie White, 62, was traveling on 594 when Brandon Bullard ran a stop sign on Rowland Road.

State police tell us White was transported to St. Francis Hospital and at last check she is listed in critical condition. Bullard was cited for failure to yield at a stop sign. Authorities say both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the wreck.
