LPSO: Suspect arrested in Jena High School bomb threat

LASALLE PARISH, La. (KNOE 8 News & LPSO) - LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Detectives have been working since Wednesday to determine who was behind a threat at Jena High School.

Friday afternoon, upon questioning the suspect, detectives arrested Jaqurius Dequan Ogletree, who is not a student at JHS.

The 18-year-old, is being booked into the LaSalle Parish Jail on one count of communicating of false information of planned bombing on school property, which is a felony charge. Bond is not expected to be set until early next week.

Sheriff Franklin extends a thank you to the LaSalle Parish School System on the efficient way that they executed their emergency plan. Also, a special thanks to all the parents and students who remained calm and followed instructions given to them.

Sheriff Franklin wants to send a strong message to anyone who communicates via social media, whether it be facebook, text messaging, emails or any other format, that you can never post completely anonymous. Although it may seem that you are unknown, anything that is transmitted through the internet or cell towers can be traced back.

Sheriff Franklin also stated that in Jaqurius’ confession, he stated that he never meant for the threat to be taken seriously or to cause anyone harm.
