Louisiana Delta Community College-West Monroe Campus to host Black History Program

WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News/LDCC WM) - Today, February 12th at 11 a.m. at 609 Vocational Parkway in West Monroe, LDCC – West Monroe Campus will host its annual Black History program. The guest speaker is Attorney Sophia Dixon Brown. Brown is a native of Union Parish. She is a graduate of Linville High School, a U. S. Army veteran, a graduate of Southern University and Southern University Law Center. She worked for 11 ½ years as a Legal Services attorney helping low income clients. Brown became interested in the law as a young child because she saw it as an opportunity to help others. Brown has received the U. S. Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and the Louisiana State Bar Association 10 years of Public Service Award. She is a member of Sterlington Church of God in Christ where she serves as Choir and Usher board President. The title that she is enjoying most these days is Grandmother.

Also on program is Martin Luther King Middle School dancers and Wossman High School choir. The program will be held in the cafeteria with refreshments served afterwards. LDCC – West Monroe Campus is located off of the Camp Road exit in Monroe. (Exit and turn left, going over the overpass-I-20-and take the first right following the winding road until you reach the campus. The campus faces I-20.)
