Bossier sheriff fires deputy following arrest

BENTON, La. (AP) - The sheriff of Bossier Parish has fired one of his deputies after the officer was arrested and charged with solicitation of prostitution.

On Thursday Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington says he fired Deputy Larry Harrell, 60, of Haughton after he was arrested in Shreveport Thursday.

The sheriff says Harrell was arrested and charged with solicitation of prostitution by the Shreveport Police Department.

Harrell was hired in 2006 and worked in the corrections unit of the sheriff's office.
