BATON ROUGE, La. (KNOE) - Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards says the governor's mansion will be home to a piece of LSU history.

A piece of Tiger Stadium's field will now commemorate LSU's 2019 season in the mansion's lawn.

On Facebook Wednesday, he posted a video along with the message, "I was lucky enough to snag some LSU Football sod yesterday and I’m happy to be able to memorialize this incredible season by planting a piece of history in the Mansion’s front yard."

Officials with LSU Athletics put the sod from Tiger Stadium up for grabs on Dec. 2. The sod was all gone within hours. They were giving away the sod as contractors prepared to renovate the drainage on the football field.

Edwards says the sod placed in the mansion's lawn will be bordered by bricks and memorialized as having come from Tiger Stadium.
