MONROE, La. (KNOE) Friday’s pep rally at Wossman High School marks the start of high school football, but it was also meant to honor their principal. Jamie Mayo, the mayor of Monroe, delivered a proclamation to the principal at the rally.
Principal Eric Davis won Principal of the Year in the state of Louisiana just before the school year. The students at Wossman say he’s done a great job of bringing the school from a 'D' to a 'B' school.
“From the first year coming to Wossman High School to now, there’s been some drastic changes in the improvement of our education,” says senior Margaret Walker.
Because of that growth, Wossman was recently named an "outstanding school" in north Louisiana.
The principal says it wouldn't have been possible without his staff and students. "We've grown fast, quicker than I thought that we would at this point,” says Eric Davis, Wossman Principal. “Our teachers are working hard, our goal is to be an ‘A’ school and that's what we're working for."
Davis says these awards just show how dedicated their teachers are to helping students learn.
