MONROE, La (KNOE) - What exactly does Cash Flow mean?
It is the amount of extra money that you need to cash flow from one month to the other to keep your financials in the black and out of the red.
What steps do we take to determine what our flow number is?
Make a list of your monthly income
Make a list of your bills
Make a list of your due dates of your bills.
What do we do next to determine what our flow number is?
Then you have to figure out how much of your income goes to each week of bills. If you have a week that the bills are more than the income then that shortage amount is part of your flow number. Add up the shortage amounts for each week. The total shortages, equals your flow number amount.
Is the flow number the same from month to month?
Yes, the flow number is the number you start with and the number you should end with every month. If you start with $300 then you should end the month with $300. By doing this you will have a balanced budget. Learn to give every dollar a name in your checking account and your savings account.
