West Monroe, La, (KNOE) - The West Monroe Police Department is participating in "No Shave November" to help fight cancer.

They're raising money for "Beard it Up" and "Color for the Cure" to fight pediatric cancer. To show their support, officers can donate $50 to either grow out their beard or color their hair or nails for the month of November.

It started after a state trooper in Texas lost his daughter to pediatric cancer.

Last year the campaign raised $17,000.

Public Information Officer for WMPD, Sergeant CJ Beck said he supports the cause for the kids.

"Well just because I care about the kids and I think it's a great thing to give back to these kids and show them we're behind them 100 percent and also provide funding that they need," Beck said.
