EAST CARROLL PARISH, La. (KNOE) - The state fire marshal's office says two people are accused in an insurance fraud scheme that involved setting fire to a rental home in East Carroll Parish.

Officials say the fire happened on September 11th in 500 block of Second Street in Lake Providence.

They believe 40-year-old Stacy Wingate set fire to the home on behalf of the owner, 58-year-old Jimmie Closure. She did this, they believe, in exchange for a replacement trailer to rent due to ongoing problems she had with the home she had been renting from him.

Investigators say Wingate admitted to setting the fire and said Closure told her how to do it.

Closure and Wingate were booked into the Riverbend Detention Center on Wednesday, October 10, each on one count of arson with intent to defraud. Closure was also booked for one count of insurance fraud.
