MADISON PARISH, LA. (Louisiana State Police) - Two people are dead following separate crashes in Madison Parish last night. The first was a three-car crash just west of Tallulah, and the second was a single-car crash just north of Waverly.

Right before 8:00 p.m. Friday, Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a three-car crash on US Highway 80, just west of Tallulah. Police say a 2000 Ford Crown Victoria, driven by 25-year-old Tyrone Jackson of Tallulah, was traveling west on US Hwy 80 behind a 2008 Nissan pickup, driven by 46-year-old Craig Warren of Katy, TX. They say the Jackson began to pass the Nissan Pickup, when he hit an eastbound 2000 Freightliner, driven by 64-year-old Jimmie Dixon of Tallulah. After being struck head-on, police say the Freightliner crossed the center line and hit the driver’s side door of the Nissan.

Although Warren was properly restrained, he was pronounced dead at the scene by the Madison Parish Coroner’s Office. Jackson was injured during the crash and taken to a local hospital for injuries. Dixon was not injured during the crash.

The second crash happened right before 2:40 a.m. on Saturday. Troop F responded to a single-car crash on LA Highway 577, just north of Waverly. They say a 2015 Lincoln MKZ, driven by 50-year-old Jenni Mobley of Winnsboro, was going south on LA Hwy 577 around a left hand curve at a high rate of speed. The car went off the roadway to the left, traveled down a deep embankment and hit a large tree.

Despite wearing her seat belt, Mobley was thrown from the car, and pronounced dead at the scene by the Madison Parish Coroner’s Office.

Police say excessive speed is suspected to be a factor in the crash.
