Trump campaign press secretary stresses rally's importance
President Trump is set to visit the Monroe Civic Center tomorrow to rally behind Republican candidate Eddie Rispone for governor.
"He's often the game-changer in a lot of these races, the tailwind behind Republican victory," said the president's 2020 campaign press secretary, Kayleigh McEnany.
She said these rallies aren't just about encouraging Republicans to go vote.
"They're oftentimes Democrats who came over to support President Trump or swing voters who came over to support President Trump," she said. "This is an important moment for President Trump to try to make a Trump voter a Republican voter."
McEnany said these elections are also important for the president because they give him an ally to pass policy statewide.
"Soon to be Governor Rispone will be that all that can replicate that success federally that President Trump has accomplished on the state level in Louisiana," she said.
Doors open for the rally Wednesday at 4 pm with President set to take the stage at 7 pm.
According to staff, the Monroe Civic Center will hold just under 6,000 people and it is first come, first served. They said there will be an overflow area where those who didn't make it in can watch.
They said there will also be concessions and portable toilets available.
Monroe Police said the center will be closed for a period the night before, so people will not be able to camp out.
