A truck carrying live chickens crashed in the Farmerville area Wednesday morning. It happened on Highway 15.

According to Louisiana State Police, the crash involved an 18-wheeler carrying the chickens and another vehicle and one of the drivers involved in the crash failed to yield at a stop sign. The truck ended up on its side and several large cages carrying chickens were knocked onto the roadway.

State police say no one suffered life-threatening injuries, but some of the people involved had to be taken to the hospital. At least one had some back injuries. It also appears some of the chickens did not survive the crash.

Crews worked to clean up the mess caused by the crash through the afternoon. Traffic was being allowed to move through the area slowly while the roadway was being cleared.
