MOREHOUSE PARISH, LA (KNOE 8 NEWS) - Amethyst Baird appeared in court in Morehouse Parish Tuesday morning. In court, it was discovered that the judge and lawyers had a conference call prior to Tuesday's court date.

The Assistant District Attorney tells us, in that conference call, the defense requested a change of venue for Baird's trial.
The trial is expected to be in Bossier Parish Oct. 23.

Baird will appear back in court Aug. 22nd for a status hearing.

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Last week, a grand jury returned a true bill indictment for Amethyst Baird, the woman accused of shooting a Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries agent.

Baird is accused of shooting agent Tyler Wheeler several times during a traffic stop in January.

She is facing multiple charges including attempted First Degree murder of a police officer.

Baird will be back in court next Monday for an arraignment and is still denied bond.

Agent Wheeler was released from therapy last week and is back home in Monroe.

When KNOE talked with him last week, he told us how thankful he is for the community's support.
