The MAYDAZE Foundation

MONROE, La (KNOE) - The MAYDAZE Foundation, which is a 501c3 nonprofit charitable organization to raise funds to support a variety of veterans' organizations. They host a one day event on the 3rd Saturday in May which is Armed Forces Day. This year the MAYDAZE Benefit will be on May 18th. They will host a crawfish boil that day and collect a gate fee, have raffles, and auctions to raise some funds. They also seek sponsorship in advanced to help defray some of our costs. This is one of the reasons I am seeking a spot on your show. Our primary goal is to provide scholarships in our area in memory of those we have lost in the War on Terror by paying it forward to the young men and women in our region who are willing to continue to serve in the GUARD, Reserves, or go thru a college ROTC program. It is our goal to provide as many of these as possible but funding limits the amount of scholarships available. The scholarships range in $1000-2000 each. They currently offer the Bryan Henderson Memorial Scholarship at Franklin Parish high school, the Torey Dantzler Memorial Scholarship at Caldwell Parish high school, and Pelican Patriots Memorial scholarship in Ouachita Parish systems. If possible we would like for like mind businesses to partner with us to co-sponsor a scholarship in general or to a particular high school of their choice, per agreement. They also offer a scholarship to family members of a killed in action, wounded in action, or disabled veteran in general, that may need assistance with college. They also provide funds to the Patriot Guard Riders, locally and nationally, local Veterans groups, have been a sponsor to the Chennault' Aviation Museum, and many others.
