Members from the Krewe of Janus joined us once again Thursday morning to discuss their latest exclusive Mardi Gras beads.

The theme for this year’s parade is the "Magic of Fairy Tales."

Krewe of Janus Bead Lieutenant Hailey Kenly says this year they're expected to throw 2 to 3 million beads.

To ensure safety and protection during the parade, Krewe of Janus Captain Lori White says each passenger is assigned to throw towards the back of the crowd. There will also be police and barricades.

White says what makes this year’s parade special is the theme's spirit.

Folks will see people dressed as fairies, mermaids, fairy godmothers, little red riding hood, the three bears and much more.

This year’s grand marshal for the Krewe of Janus is Monroe native Mason Andrews.

Andrews’ time in the Krewe of Janus has given him a world of opportunities and achievements through the years.

He says a few years ago he was given the opportunity to circumnavigate the world in a single-engine plane. He was crowned the youngest pilot to fly solo around the world in the world record books.

The parade is scheduled for Saturday, February 15th, at 6 p.m.

The route will begin on 1118 Natchitoches Street in West Monroe and end at Oliver Road in Monroe.
