The Komen NELA Race for the Cure is kicking off!

MONROE, La (KNOE) - The Komen NELA Race for the Cure is kicking off! The 26th annual Race for the Cure will be September 14th at Forsythe Park. There will be a 1 mile fun run/walk and a timed 5K run. We will have medals for timed runners.

McDonald's is our presenting sponsor and will be onsite with great food on race day and will be hosting a breakfast for breast cancer survivors.

We will have a kids area with lots of games and activities, as well, as a Pooches in Pink for the fur babies.

One in eight women are diagnosed with breast cancer and Louisiana ranks in the top three states for breast cancer mortality.

The race is our largest fundraiser and 75% of the funds raised stay in Louisiana and is granted to help women that could not otherwise afford treatment.

Individuals can register online at komenlouisiana.org and go under Events. Registration fee is $20 for survivors and $25 for all other adults participant and $15 for kids 12 and under. Race registration fee includes race day t-shirt.
