MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Century Village developers say there's a lot on the horizon for the area. Realtors with John Rea Realty say Century Tower is the first part of the development.
Southern Lifestyle Development Group has built ten mixed-use developments, like Century Village, throughout Louisiana and Mississippi. River Ranch in Lafayette, La. is one of their first neighborhoods.
"Everything will be within walking distance like the residential areas, dining, your shopping, the pools, the athletic club," says Catherine Legg, with John Rea Realty.
"We have the athletic center is here on the first floor. We have Regus, IBM. We have POUR, and Romacelli will be coming," Legg says.
She says homes, apartments and businesses will be next in the coming months.
"We will also have a town square with community events, live music, and concerts will be held there," says Legg. "And that will be open to the public, not just for the residents."
Realtors say the town center will have boutiques, businesses and a Progressive Bank.
Legg says homes will be built behind Century Tower, and apartments built out to Ouachita Christian School.
"The home sizes will be between 1,300 and 4,000 square feet just depending on what size lot you purchase," says Legg. "They will be starting at the low $200,000s."
When asked about the development's future if CenturyLink moves its headquarters, Mayor Jamie Mayo says he thinks people will still live and shop in Century Village.
"We're counting on CenturyLink being there. I've talked to Jeff Storey, and he's emphasized to me that they're going to be here," says Mayo.
"It will be more than just the residents of the city of Monroe," says Mayo. "It will be the residents of Ouachita Parish who will go out there, the residents of Northeast Louisiana and Southern Arkansas."
