Sen. Bill Cassidy announces bid for reelection

U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy says he's running for reelection.

Cassidy, a Republican who represents the state of Louisiana, made the announcement at a grocery store in Denham Springs on Wednesday, according to a post on his Facebook page.

Cassidy took office in 2015 after defeating incumbent Sen. Mary Landrieu (D). His current term is scheduled to end at the beginning of 2021.

The primary election is scheduled for the same day as the 2020 presidential election: Tuesday, November 3, 2020.
