Scotty Robinson, a Ouachita Parish Police Juror, says he's running for Congress.

Friday, he told KNOE he's been thinking about it for a long time. He's seeking U.S. Congressman Ralph Abraham's seat.

Robinson made the announcement in a video posted to Facebook, saying, "Five years ago, Ralph Abraham pledged to only serve three terms in Congress. Now that we're halfway through his 3rd term, I've been thinking about the best man to succeed him. And I know I'm that man. As a husband, as a father, as a Christian and as a voter, I know that I can represent the people of the 5th Congressional district with the honesty and integrity they deserve. That's why I'm excited to tell you that I plan on running for Congress in 2020."

Robinson says he's been in public office for years and worked in government on different levels to get things done.

No word yet on whether Abraham is seeking reelection.
