Summer vacation is wrapping up for most kids in the ArkLaMiss; which means it's time for a new school year to begin.
With school starting back up drivers need to start paying attention to school zones.
State police said it's been a few months so some drivers may have forgotten the law.
Police said normally between the hours of 7am till 9am and from 2pm till 4pm school zone laws are in effect.
If you're driving near a school remember that you need to be hands free.
State police said you can't be texting or even talking on the phone, because if so you're breaking the law.
Also, watch out for the speed limit and slow down in school zones.
Trooper Reichardt said their job is to make sure everyone is safe, so that's why they will be out enforcing the law.
"That's our job to make sure everybody is safe, highway safety is our number one priority especially when children are involved. We will be in school zones and if you're breaking the law you will receive a citation", Louisiana State Police Trooper Michael Reichardt said.
