Sandbagging operations across northeast Louisiana
Several local governments have opened, or are preparing to open, sandbagging operations across northeast Louisiana ahead of potential severe weather.
Here's a list of known locations of sandbagging operations, along with information from local governments.
Open at noon on Thursday. The Public Works Department will provide shovels, sand, and bags for residents to fill their own bags. Residents will be allowed to fill up to 25 bags.

Benoit Rec. Center - 1700 Oaklawn Dr, Monroe, LA
Predictions call for as much as 5 inches of rain in the next few days; so, residents are asked to clear ditches of debris such as leaves, limbs and branches. This will improve drainage and reduce the chances of flash-flooding.
Sandbags are now available at The Ike Hamilton Expo Center in West Monroe. Shovels and bags will be provided. This is a self-serve station. Please limit 25 bags per person.
Sandbags are available during regular business hours (8 a.m. -3 p.m., Monday to Friday) for parish residents. Limit 25 per household.

Thursday: If any resident of Vidalia is needing sand, please go by the city barn on Gillespie Street, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. This is for Vidalia residents only and residents must bring proof of residency. Parish residents need to contact the Concordia Parish Police Jury. - Vidalia Police Department
After Thursday, you can pick up sandbags at the correctional facility on Highway 15 in Ferriday.
You can pick up sandbags at the city barn.
Sterlington PD says people will be out at the water tower on High Ave. filling sandbags this Friday around 6:00 pm. They say everyone is encouraged to come and lend a hand and help your neighbor.
You can get sandbags at the Highway 15 Jail and the fire department at 413 Airport Rd. Sandbags will be prepared for pickup. Limit 25 per household.

In order to prepare for possible flooding, sandbags are available FOR PICKUP at the Tensas Parish Road Barn on LA Highway 128 in St. Joseph. There is a 25 bag limit at this time.
The parish is offering sandbags at three different locations.
They can be found at 623 Schneider Ln, 3112 Highway 581, and 1490 Charles D. Jones Blvd.
The sandbags are already bagged and ready to be picked up. If any senior citizens need help picking up sandbags, they can call the Police Jury's office to have them delivered. The number is (318) 559-2256.
