Ruston honors veterans with parade and ceremony

RUSTON, La. (KNOE) A military parade and ceremony were held in honor of veterans in Ruston on Friday.

The Grand Marshall of the parade was Jay Vinyard, a "Flying Tiger Veteran Pilot."

Nell Chennault Calloway, CEO of the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum, spoke of his and all other veteran's honor.

"We are as free today as we have been for the last 243 years, and free people worthy of our freedom and determined to protect this great nation founded under god," she said.

The ceremony included a presenting of the colors, laying of the wreath, and a ceremony for POW/MIA soldiers.

Ret. Sergeant First Class Ronnie Lyons led the POW/MIA ceremony.

"These courageous Americans who dedicated their lives to protect our freedom will never, and I say never be forgotten," he said.
