RUSTON, La. (KNOE) - The National Fitness Campaign is helping Ruston continue its Healthy Community initiative.

Ruston to get new outdoor gym facility.

NFC donated $30,000 to the city for an outdoor gym. It will be located on West California Avenue.

City communication director Kourtney Keim says this is all a part of the Rock Island Greenway Project.

"We encourage Ruston to get out, use the equipment. Come out with your friends and family," Keim said. "It's right off of the Rock Island Greenway, so you can bike or walk there. Just get out, exercise and enjoy the equipment."

The gym will be free.

Keim says citizens can download the app to see all of the equipment and activities the gym will feature. The gym is expected to open later this year.
