Kid's wish to meet the Robertsons

WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The Robertson family surprised a sick fan of their hit TV show, Duck Dynasty. Zackery King was excited to meet his favorite family from TV.

Zackery suffers from two rare disorders that put severe pressure on his entire body, making his joints ache. He said it takes over 30 minutes just to get out of bed every morning. On Monday, he was excited to get out of bed because he knew he would be visiting the Duck Commander. What he did not know was that he would be meeting the Robertsons.

The Robertsons are pretty familiar with granting wishes. Willie says he cried the first time he visited a kid in the hospital, but he did not want to look sad.

“I know they wanted to see Willie from the show and the personality they had seen,” he said.

He said that is why his family made meeting Zackery their top priority. Willie said they dropped everything to make his day.

They took Zackery on a tour of the warehouse and ate lunch at Willie’s Duck Diner. The Robertsons signed items for Zackery, but he also had something to give to Willie in return: a Kids Wish Network bandanna. Willie wore that bandanna for the rest of the day.

He said, “I’m wearing his today as an effort to show him and other kids that we care about them and that we’re thinking about him.”

Zackery said he is taking away more than just photographs from the experience.

“I can definitely tell you that when I get older, I’m going to try to help grant some wishes,” he said.

Zackery's wish was granted and sponsored by Kids Wish Network.
