Mayor Harry Lewis said that the old tank is underground, and is extremely difficult to maintain.
The town received a Louisiana Community Development Block Grant to construct a new tank above the ground.
Mayor Lewis said that the new tank is a huge improvement.
"This tank is going to improve the quality of water. It's going to improve the appearance, and what it does is it gives us a lot more water," he said.
The mayor said that with more water comes more potential customers.
"We are eagerly awaiting other businesses and everything. If we get a new suburb we can take care of them. We can take care of more customers," he said.
Mayor Lewis said that improved infrastructure is crucial to making the city greater.
"We need that growth, that's going to be the key. In order for us to grow, we've got to have good infrastructure. And that's a main part of it," he said.
He said the tank should be online within 90 days. He said that when the tank is finished, it should take only a few hours to connect it. Officials are going to be giving a few days notice before.
