A small group of protesters from local NAACP chapters were protesting on the other side of the street in front of Monroe City Hall.

There were a few tense moments as some people wearing Trump supporters walked past and both sides exchanged arguing points.

Law enforcement from several local departments are on both sides protecting both rally goers and protestors.

We talked with a few people in line who say they couldn't miss this once in a lifetime opportunity and some protestors who say they couldn't miss a chance to make their voices heard.

"My husband's a veteran, my brother's a veteran. I have a son who's in the National Guard. He's a great defender of the military, great defender of the veterans and he's just a great Commander in Chief and a great president, right? He's all for America," one supporter said.

"President Trump is trying to remove everything that the previous president put in place, and especially our voting rights, and that's one of the things that we have stood on and that is the right to vote," one protestor said.
