Professional pool player killed in motorcycle accident
Professional Pool player Scotty Townsend was killed on Highway 552 Between Drew and Farmerville around 6PM Thursday evening. According to police, Townsend was driving his 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle when it slid out of control, hitting a tree. Police say Townsend was pronounced dead at the scene.
Townsend was well known around the Louisiana Billiard community, and traveled all over the country during his years as a professional. One of his most notable achievements was a 3rd place finish in the 1995 U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship, where he was defeated by legendary pool player Johnny Archer.
Townsend was 56 years old.
