Authorities are on the scene of a transformer explosion in the downtown area of El Dorado.

According to El Dorado PD, an underground transformer exploded, causing a fire Thursday afternoon. They say the fire is contained on Elm Street between Hill and Jefferson.

While the fire has been contained, police say power will be disrupted for multiple businesses in the area.

According to Entergy's website, the outages started Thursday afternoon at 12:25 p.m.

106 customers are affected. Power appears to be out for parts of Jackson Street, East Oak, and the immediate area, according to Entergy's website.

Police are asking that you avoid the downtown area this afternoon.

According to the El Dorado Fire Dept., no injuries have been reported, and Entergy is on the scene.

El Dorado Fire is downtown at an underground transformer fire. Please avoid the area of Jefferson and Elm. No injuries have been reported and the fire has been contained and Entergy is also on scene.
