Pattern turns wet

(KNOE 8 WEATHER) - Good morning! Clouds will thicken today as our next weather system inches closer to us.

An intense upper-level area of low pressure will enter the western part of the country today. As it moves across New Mexico and Texas it'll strengthen into a strong surface low.

At home, we'll see a transition from sunshine to thick clouds through today and perhaps even a shower or two tonight.

Off and on showers will develop Friday afternoon/evening as the low undergoes rapid intensification. The system will also slow down its forward progression which means we'll be dealing with a long duration rain event.

Areawide, I think it's possible for 3-5" to fall with locally higher totals to the southwest.

The wind could also be a factor this weekend as well. Wind speeds could exceed 20-30 mph on Saturday and Sunday as the low passes to the south.

Sunday we'll stay dry, but the cloud cover, along with the wind will stick around. Temperatures will be considerably colder as well.
