MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Spending time at home and social distancing can make some people feel lonely, that's why PAWS of Northeast Louisiana is encouraging its fostering program.

The volunteer non-profit is a resource folks can use to sign up to be a foster home for rescued animals. As more and more people are spending time at home due to social distancing and quarantine, the opportunity presents itself to help animal shelters that have more animals coming in regularly.
Staci Choat, PAWS board member, and foster mom, explains that even if individuals do not get to foster at this time, signing up now will speed up the process when more animals need placement in the future.
"People are still bringing in their dogs and cats to the shelters. We're right in the middle of puppy and kitten season so lots of baby animals are being born," she said.
