One person was arrested after a gun was found at Bastrop High School Wednesday morning.

Bastrop's principal Chris Broussard said the school also initiated their lockdown procedure until the gun was removed from campus.

Broussard's official statement to KNOE reads as follows:

"We received a report that there was a gun on campus. We initiated our lockdown procedures and notified the police. The weapon was confiscated, the individual arrested, and we resumed our daily activities. We believe that as of now our school is safe. Any further questions need to be directed to the superintendent of schools."

KNOE has a reporter in Bastrop and we will have more on this story during our evening newscasts.
