Officials monitoring large disturbance as hurricane season begins

June 1 marks the beginning of the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season and it begins with eyes on a large disturbance south of the United States.

According to the National Hurricane Center, forecasters are monitoring a disturbance located over the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico.

Forecasters say the disturbance could develop and move toward the U.S. Officials describe the situation in the following Facebook post:

The Atlantic hurricane season will run through November 30, 2020.

NOAA says two tropical storms already formed this year in May. They were , Arthur and Bertha. The next named storm that develops this season will be Cristobal.
