Authorities say the man shot by a Ouachita deputy has been ID'd as Dusty Sanders of Bastrop. He is charged with attempted 1st-degree murder.

Louisiana State Police say the person shot by a Ouachita Parish deputy is expected to survive. New details have also been released by investigators with LSP Troop F.

According to Senior Trooper Michael Reichardt, the incident started with a stalled vehicle at the intersection of US 80 and LA Hwy 139. A state police investigation indicates the deputy came upon the vehicle around 2:00 am. From there, the details are unclear. But Reichardt says the shooting happened at some point before 3:00 am.

The person shot is being treated at a local hospital. Louisiana State Police is still investigating.

The shooting involving a Ouachita Parish deputy may have happened in the parking lot of an auto parts store. That's according to a witness who captured an image of the shooting's aftermath.

The photographer wishes to remain anonymous, but says the photo was taken around 5:30 am on Wednesday, Dec 27th. That's when the witness described seeing law enforcement officers at O'Reilly Auto Parts. In the photo, crime scene tape can be seen sectioning off part of the store's parking lot.

We also noticed shattered glass in the O'Reilly parking lot that appeared to be from a vehicle.

Louisiana State Police say they are investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened in the Lakeshore area of Ouachita Parish.

According to Senior Trooper Michael Reichardt, the shooting happened early Wednesday morning around 2 am near the intersection of US-80 and LA-139.

Reichardt said he could not release many details at this time but would tell us that the shooting involves a Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Deputy.

Exactly who was shot and his or her condition is unclear at this time.

We asked for more details, including the name of the person shot by the deputy, what initiated the encounter, and whether the deputy was hurt. Reichardt would only tell us the matter is under investigation and that they will release more information shortly.
