WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Update 3:00 PM:
The Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office has released few new details about the shooting that claimed the life of a young child Friday morning.
They say they have completed their investigation and they are turning the results of that investigation over to District Attorney Steve Tew's office. Investigators say they are not releasing the name of the victim. Investigators have not answered any other questions KNOE has asked regarding the shooting.
The child is reportedly 4 or 5 years old. The sheriff's office said that the child was 5. Sources close to the situation say the child was 4.
The shooting happened on Philpot Road in southern Ouachita Parish around 1:20 am Friday morning.
The sheriff's office says the shooting was reported as "accidental."
