OPSO investigates thefts around the parish

OUACHITA PARISH, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Packages missing from people's doorsteps and lawn equipment are putting people on edge.
They are happening in areas like the Garden District and the River Oaks areas of Monroe have people on edge.

"That is a comfort of knowing that I'm already somewhat protected by having a security system in my house," said TJ Scarborough, a River Oaks resident.
Sometimes it takes more than that to catch a suspected thief.

Court documents show one of the suspects took a leaf blower to CB's Pawn Shop in West Monroe.
An employee put the serial number in a system called LeadsOnline.com.
The blower had already been reported stolen.

"That's how we track it. Every shop nowadays uses the same security system and you have to submit all items that you took to the police department," said Richie Donaldson, a manager at CB's Pawn Shop.

He said before this happens to you, take a picture of anything valuable and write down its serial number.

"It's pretty much if you have those you're going to get your items back," said Donaldson.

Police said that makes it much easier to catch the suspects.

River Oaks isn't the only area with reported thefts.

Law enforcement is also investigating thefts in the areas like the Garden District and Town and Country.
Investigations are on-going and they expect more arrests for nearby thefts.
