UPDATE: OPSO identifies boy who drowned in West Monroe drainage ditch

The Ouachita Parish has identified the boy who drowned in Saturday night's severe weather in West Monroe.

The victim has been identified as 13-year-old Sebastian Omar Martinez of West Monroe.

A spokesman for the sheriff's office say the incident is still under investigation, and no further details are available as of this time.

One death is now being attributed to the severe weather that rolled through the ArkLaMiss.

The Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office says a young male fell into a drainage ditch and drowned.

It happened around 4:50 p.m. at the 700 block of Evergreen Street in the West Monroe area.

Authorities have recovered the boy's body.

The sheriff's office says the child was 13 years old.
