WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE) - New security procedures are being implemented for West Monroe High School's Rebel Stadium. According to an update on the WMHS website, the new procedures are going into practice at Friday night's high school football game.
It says the following:
Beginning Friday, October 12, 2018, each entry into Rebel Stadium will require patrons to be randomly screened by law enforcement officials using hand-held metal detectors. You may be asked to empty the contents of your pockets, or have any other personal belongings, such as purses or diaper bags, screened."
"A few reminders:
· No Outside Food or Drink
· No Alcohol or Illegal Substances
· No Weapons (Concealed carry permit holders are not allowed to carry on school grounds.)
· No Backpacks
· The use of tobacco, including smokeless and electronic vaping devices, is not allowed on school grounds."
The WMHS administration is asking everyone to arrive 5-10 minutes early to make time for random security screenings.
The new security procedures are being implemented after multiple people were arrested on gun charges 2 weeks ago. The incident caused a scare and a stir of false rumors.
