A new art gallery in Ruston held its ribbon cutting and first exhibition on Thursday. The new gallery is called Ruston Artisans.

The gallery director, Judi Null, says it will feature work from artists between Shreveport and Monroe, with the youngest artist being just 14 years old.

Ruston Artisans was established to create support for local artists in the area.

"I think that they really reflect our passion very much about putting Ruston artists on the stage, giving them a platform to be able to present their art," said Null.

The gallery's first exhibition featured art from Louisiana Tech Professor, Dr. Box Leangsuksun. He presented his imagery and stories through photos of his trip to Kenya, Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons, and Alaska.

Visitors to the gallery will experience a new exhibit every month and also be introduced to a new artist.

Null says they're asking for artists right now for January and February.
