Natchitoches Police: Cause of death released for body found in Cane River

NATCHITOCHES, La (NPD News Release) - Update: Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016 4pm:
A preliminary coroner’s report to the Natchitoches Police Department on Antonio Francisco, the 28 year old male discovered floating in the Cane River on Monday the 26th has indicated the cause of death was drowning. There was no evidence of trauma present and foul play is not suspected in this incident however Mr. Francisco’s death still remains under investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) of the Natchitoches Police Department.

Original Story:
On Monday, September 26, 2016 around 9:43 AM a citizen contacted police headquarters in reference to what he suspected to be a body floating in Cane River. Officers and detectives of the Natchitoches Police Department responded to Williams Ave. just south of the Church St. Bridge where they located a body floating face down.

The incident in-question was immediately turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) of the Natchitoches Police Department for further investigation. Detectives were then able to determine that the deceased male subject was a 28 year old, Hispanic male, Antonio Francisco. Francisco’s brother was contacted and informed that his brother was deceased. Francisco’s body was later transported to the Coroner’s Office in Lake Charles, LA. The investigation into Mr. Francisco’s death is on-going.
