Three Swanson Center for Youth escapees are still on the run as of Monday, and Crime Stoppers of North Delta has released the suspect's names and information.
According to Crime Stoppers, four teens overpowered a guard around 11 p.m. Friday night, stealing her keys and jumping the facility's fence. Police arrested one of the escapees, 17-year-old Joseph Mitchell of Texas.
The three others have now been on the run for nearly 72 hours. Crime Stoppers has identified them as:
- 19-year-old Chance Johnson of Ferriday, La.
- 19-year-old Donnie McCoy of Plaquemine, La.
- 17-year-old Dakelon Berry from Mansura, La.
In February, McCoy and Berry were arrested and accused of trying to escape the facility. Arrest records from that time say the two teens left their dorms without permission and ran across the facility grounds before they were eventually detained.
Attacks on guards are nothing new either. According to KNOE reports, this now makes the sixth attack on a guard since February. In this most recent case, the guard didn't require medical attention. But in June, one inmate was accused of hitting a guard with a tree limb, while another was accused of choking a guard.
